BRAND
19-69, the luxury niche fragrance brand, was founded by Swedish artist and product developer Johan Bergelin. The brand draws inspiration from the spirit of freedom, tolerance, and counterculture embodied in the year 1969. From iconic countercultural moments to art, music, and diverse cultures, these influences shape the content, names, and packaging of 19-69's rebellious and delightful perfumes and scented candles.
HISTORY
In 2015, Johan Bergelin and his wife turned co-founder, Catharina, set out to establish a brand that represents an era of freedom and counterculture. Starting their creative journey at the kitchen table, they collaborated with artisans in Scandinavia, France, and Italy for two years, culminating in the launch of their first collection of five fine fragrances at Colette in Paris in 2017. Since then, 19-69 has introduced numerous gender-neutral perfumes, inviting individuals to explore beauty without boundaries.
DESIGNER
What sets 19-69 apart are the captivating narratives behind its fragrances. Johan Bergelin emphasizes their commitment to authentic storytelling, drawing inspiration from his extensive travels and challenging the traditional norms of perfume creation. The brand invites you to embark on a sensorial adventure, exploring scents that capture the essence of different places and pushing the boundaries of olfactory experiences. „We worked on narratives that were real to us.” As a wide traveler, this meant telling stories of various places through scents. It also entailed challenging the status-quo, and pushing the boundaries of perfume making. “It’s like when you travel for food. To fully enjoy the experience you eat Michelin restaurants, but you also must explore the street food flavors.”
