HISTORY
D.L. Roelen's journey began in the Berlin underground, where the brand found inspiration in the city's avant-garde character. From there, collaborations flourished, reflecting the brand's core value of invisibility yet presence. One noteworthy collaboration emerged from the partnership between Creutz & Partners and Roelen, aiming to translate the sensory experience of the Luxembourg headquarters' indoor jungle into scents. The result is an olfactory metaphor for the intangible but palpable feeling of luxury. The brand's commitment to limited editions and collaborations with artists, brands, and labels reflects its dedication to innovation and creative exploration.
DESIGNER
David Lucas Roelen, born half German and half Turkish, divides his time between Berlin, London, and Istanbul. A fortuitous encounter in 2017 led him to a fragrance lab, and from that moment, he knew he had found his calling. In December 2018, D.L. Roelen introduced Series 001, a collection of five perfumes. Among them, "Broken Bouquet" and "Flower Boy" stood as centerpieces, challenging the stereotypes prevalent in the beauty and perfume industry while championing empowerment and personal confidence. Additionally, "The Door," another fragrance from the line, pays homage to the gatekeepers of Berlin's renowned club scene, where the brand's community frequently gathers. Further expanding their reach, D.L. Roelen released two perfumes in 2020, collaborating with female artists and fostering interdisciplinary partnerships.
