THE BRAND

The Japanese brand Doublet reimagines basic and standard products by infusing their own designs and ideas, creating a unique sense of strangeness in everyday wear. With a range of ready-to-wear garments, shoes, and accessories, a Doublet collection offers a distinctive style. Operating from a small office in Tokyo's serene Setagaya district, Doublet has garnered significant attention within the city's fashion scene. To expand their reach and promote their concept of "strangest comfort" on a global scale, the brand has been organizing pop-up shops, establishing offline connections with a new customer base. Doublet's designs can be summarized in one word: novelty.

HISTORY

In 2011, Ino founded Doublet, drawing from his extensive experience working on shoes and accessories at Maison Mihara Yasuhiro. A serendipitous encounter with Takashi Murakami, a fellow colleague at Mihara Yasuhiro, led to a collaborative partnership under the Doublet label. With the addition of stylist Demi Demu, they crafted a distinct identity that set them apart in Tokyo's design scene, which was predominantly characterized by normcore aesthetics. Today, Doublet stands as one of Tokyo's most talked-about brands. Their Paris presentation marked a significant milestone, being their first fashion week event since their 2017 show at Tokyo Fashion Week. Furthermore, it has been over a year since Ino's groundbreaking win of the 2018 LVMH prize, making him the first Japanese designer (and the first Asian designer) to achieve this prestigious honor.
