HISTORY

Founded in 1947 by François Salomon, Salomon started as a humble metal workshop specializing in saw blades. It was in 1957 that the company displayed its first signs of ingenuity. They introduced a groundbreaking machine that automated the production of steel edges for skis, effectively transforming ski bindings by replacing traditional leather bindings with cutting-edge cable bindings. This breakthrough caught the attention of the skiing world, and Salomon bindings made their debut at the 1966 World Alpine Championships in Chile. Building on their binding success, Salomon became the world's leading manufacturer by 1972. They continued to push boundaries, introducing the revolutionary Atlas safety binding and the first-ever binding with a self-release heelpiece. In 1979, Salomon expanded its expertise to include ski boots, with the notable SX90 model making its mark. A decade later, the company ventured into ski production, showcasing their skis in the 1992 Albertville Olympics, a testament to their exceptional craftsmanship.
